Educative actions to face dental traumatic lesions

Abstract

The statistics reflect high numbers of athletes who have traumatic lesions of the teeth, and who do not go to treatment, as they do not have adequate information to proceed with these situations. This research was carried out as a result of the need to improve the level of information on the procedure against traumatic injuries to the teeth. A study was carried out in two aspects, a descriptive, cross-sectional one, to identify information needs and the second one with a qualitative approach with the aim of elaborating and validating an educational proposal that aims to improve the level of information on the procedure before traumatic injuries. of the teeth of the athletes and coaches of combat sports, school category (14-15 years) of the EIDE "Héctor Ruiz Pérez", of Villa Clara province, in the period between September 2010 and June 2011. An insufficient level of information on the subject was detected and based on this, a proposal of educational actions was elaborated that contemplates activities on the procedure against traumatic injuries of the teeth, which were validated as excellent by external experts' criteria.
