Abstract

This article focused on identifying, characterizing and an analysis of the physical activity programs
aimed at the elderly, the IDRD is implemented in the locality of Engativá, in relation to the
guidelines established in the legal norms, and the conceptual foundations that guide and regulate
these activities. The study was conducted from structured interviews with professionals responsible
for carrying out these programs and their examination mediated by the theoretical contributions of
specialized documents and relevant laws and filtered consulted during the information gathering
stage. As a result it was found that physical activity programs that takes place in the town of
Engativá, aimed at the population, are based on a diagnosis of the needs and possibilities of users and taking into account the limitations imposed by diseases of this age. First of all these programs
seek to contribute to emotional and social well-being and health of the population served.
